"It is better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war."  - Miyamoto Musashi

As we know, cannabis has now been legalized in Minnesota for both medicinal and recreational use and it is now legal to grow it in your home. The cannabis plant is an amazing plant that has many medicinal and therapeutic properties. We have what is called an endocannabinoid system, also called ECS. The ECS helps keep our bodies in homeostasis or in balance. There are receptors all over our body that help regulate a wide range of functions like pain control, mood regulation, sleep, and immune response to name a few. When something is “out of whack” in your body the endocannabinoids send a message to the receptors with what is needed, and the body reacts to fix or alleviate the problem.  Think of it like a lock and key system. When your body feels pain, it sends a message (a key) to the part of the body that controls pain management (the lock) and opens it up so the body can balance and alleviate the problem. Sometimes our ECS system can get tired or does not work as well as it should, or sometimes not at all. That is where cannabis can be a huge help! Cannabis has what are called phytocannabinoids. The amazing thing is that these phytocannabinoids work perfectly with our endocannabinoid system. They work exactly like the “key” that can open the locks that need to be for your body to get back into homeostasis or simply feeling better.

Growing cannabis can be fun, relaxing and is satisfying when you're done with the harvest. We have spoken to veterans who currently grow cannabis, and they say it has helped them a lot. Not only with feeling better, but it also gives them something to put their energy into….a mission. You can review different strains (types) and find one or more that will work for your needs or wants and grow that strain(s) right in your own home! We are here to help veterans with that. We want to educate you on how to grow cannabis yourselves if you would like to. We also want to teach you what to look for in a strain to help you feel better. If you do not want to grow or cannot grow, we want you to know what to look for at a dispensary or what questions you can ask to help find a strain that will work for what you want and need.

In the future, we plan to host events throughout Minnesota where veterans can gather to learn, discuss, and share information about cannabis and its cultivation in a judgment-free environment. We aim to welcome all veterans, from those with no prior experience or knowledge to those who are well-versed in cannabis. Please check back for updates!!
